She has worked with numerous organizations providing legal assistance to victims of domestic violence through the Essex County Family Justice Center and served as Co-Chair of the Rutgers Domestic Violence Advocacy Program (DVAP). Caposela, Presiding Judge, Family Part, New Jersey Superior Court, Passaic County.
Dorothy has played a pivotal role in significant appellate family-law matters, including ALI v. DW, No. A-5230-15T3, 2017 WL 2960602 (N.J. Super. Ct. App. Div. July 12, 2017), which examined the statutory definition of “victim” under New Jersey’s Domestic Violence Act. Her representation at the trial level, and examination and analysis of prima facie threshold requirements related to issues of cohabitation, materially informed the record of appellate review in the seminal and widely referenced case Temple v. Temple, 468 N.J. Super. 364 (App. Div. 2021). Her contributions to these matters reflect her ability to skillfully navigate the complex and ever-evolving areas of family law.
