Thomas J. Snyder, Esq.
Tom brings more than 30 years of litigation experience in family, civil, and estate law. Widely recognized for his leadership in New Jersey family law, he has helped shape key reforms, including the statutory recognition of Irreconcilable Differences as grounds for divorce, amendments to the Alimony Statute, and the Marriage Equality Act. In 2006, he received the Distinguished Legislative Service Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association and has served as Chair of the Family Law Executive Committee and on the Bar’s Nominating Committee.
A respected voice in the legal community, Tom has appeared on NJN’s Due Process, WNYC, and WWRL 1600 AM to discuss family law issues. He has extensive trial training through the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and was named Mentor of the Year by the New Jersey Law Journal in 2019. Tom has been recognized on the Super Lawyers list every year since 2013.
Dorothy J. Kenney, Esq.
Dorothy, the firm’s Managing Member, focuses exclusively on matrimonial and family law, always delivering client-centered representation. She has worked with organizations supporting domestic violence survivors, including the Essex County Family Justice Center, and served as Co-Chair of the Rutgers Domestic Violence Advocacy Program (DVAP).
Dorothy has also played a pivotal role in landmark appellate family law matters, such as ALI v. DW (2017), which examined the statutory definition of “victim” under New Jersey’s Domestic Violence Act, and Temple v. Temple (2021), where her trial-level advocacy and analysis of cohabitation and prima facie thresholds materially shaped the appellate record. These contributions highlight her ability to navigate complex and evolving areas of family law. She was selected to the Rising Stars list from 2017 through 2022 and to the Super Lawyers list in 2025, in addition to this year.
Angelica M. Mercado, Esq.
Angelica is a Founding Partner of Snyder Kenney & Mercado, LLC, representing clients in family law matters, including high-conflict matrimonial, non-dissolution, and domestic violence cases. Fluent in Spanish, she provides skilled representation to both English- and Spanish-speaking clients. Angelica is a recognized leader and frequent speaker on family law topics for organizations like Lawline, Justia, Practising Law Institute, Quimbee, NJICLE, Essex County Bar Association, Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey, ALPFA NJ, and AAML. She has been featured in Seton Hall University’s IMPACT Magazine and honored by The International Girls Academy for her professional and community contributions.
Angelica earned her Juris Doctor and Master’s in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University School of Law. She contributed to public-interest initiatives and successfully obtained asylum for a client fleeing political persecution. This is Angelica’s second year being selected to the Rising Stars list.
